I'm not a shipping fan*, but I enjoy a cute ship once in a while when it's not too flagrant. This Twidash story was beautiful, touching, and very well written.

Our Gifts by The Descendant 

This was the perfect tale to read on Christmas Eve, but it will be just as good on Christmas Day no doubt. This story perfectly limns Twilight and Spikes relationship, and is superlatively adorable. The author's treatment of characters is illuminating and at times humorous throughout this story, as in all his work.

*I keep telling myself that, but I probably should have thrown that conception out the window when I started reading Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying.

Fan Fic Time

And it's me, the original OP, back to show you a good time, and make this all rhyme, back to give you a some links to fan fics, if you feel like reading 'em for man kicks.

Nah I really don't know what I'm doing. Anyway, I've been gone for a while and I highly appreciate the work my co-admin has done, but I read more fan fiction than him so I suppose I should link some over while I have the chance. (Although he surprised me by linking a few, mostly shippings which is cool because  I don't read those much.)

Fever Dreams by The Descendant - This is a compendium of The Descendants shorter stories, mostly those inspired by 30 Minute Pony Prompts, not a stand alone story. My favorites are "Apples to Apples" and "Hello," but explore his work as much as you feel inclined, you won't be disappointed. 

Of Steam, Gears, and Wings by RavensDagger - This adventure novel makes use of Prince Blueblood as an evil tyrant sovereign, airships as the chief means of transport, and the CMC as main characters. What else need be said? Also, as of now the main story is finished, though there may be more epilogues.

Make a Wish by CoolStoryBrony - Well written Scootaloo-Dash fiction. Definitely worth a read if you like sad/slice of life stories that are driven my character interaction.

Stormy Nights by Void Chicken - The first in a criminally under-appreciated  trilogy, Stormy Nights is, by a landslide, one of my favorite FiM fictions: on the list with My Little Dashie and Fallout: Equestria. Don't expect anything adventurous or epic though, this is just a slice of life with some good writing and wonderful character development. 

Naked Singularity by Cold in Gardez - Really well written, keeps the flow going and the suspense building. Must read.

Fallout: Equestria

You have probably heard of this story, it is the outstanding literary achievement of our fandom, it is a story that is amazing beyond words. At least beyond my words, considering that it did have to be written.

This is the tale of LittlePip and her friends (how angry she'd be at me for using that title) as they journey across the Equestrian wasteland on a quest to mend the broken country and prove that there is still good in ponies. It tells of her struggles, her shortcomings and failures, of her will to save ponies even at the cost of herself, of battles won only at a great price and those who gave their lives in the fight, of the mistakes that were made when 6 friends were separated long ago, and of hope that things can still be the way they once were. It tells of LittlePip's final sacrifice and her leap of faith for all ponykind. 

I had never read a fan fiction that brought me to care as much for original characters as I do for the canon characters from MLP FiM, until I opened the pages of Fallout: Equestria. LittlePip, Calamity, Velvet Remedy, SteelHooves, and so many more, are friends that I will keep close to my heart for the rest of my life. 

And yes, it is 1500 pages. It took me three weeks to read, and it was worth every second.

Worst Fanfic Ever

Dear god, I have read the worst thing in my life just now. Sweet Apple Massacre is basically the unofficial part two of Cupcakes that my Co-Admin posted in a previous post. Do not read it, TRUST ME, I am just putting the link there because I know humans are inclined to look at sick things, even if they don't really want to. Fan Fiction Recommendations

Something in the title looks wrong. Reccomendations? Recomendations? Recomandacion? 

I think I'll leave it how it is. So I'll  regularly post my favorite fan fics for those of you interested in a bit of pony related reading. 

When I come across a definitely don't read I'll post that too and hopefully you'll take my word for it and not put yourself through the same experience (some of them can be quite bad). 

First off, a few classics of pony fiction. 

"My Little Dashie" by ROBcakeran53. Any list of Brony Literature would be uncomplete without this story. More than any other fiction I've read it sums up what it means to be a brony. It's really sad, in a good way, and it will probably make you cry.

"The Rainbow Factory" by AuroraDawn. I heard the WoodenToaster remix before I even heard of the fan fiction, but it did not disappoint. 

Warning: This story is not for the faint of heart. It is grimdark as hay, it contains intense life and death scenarios, lots of gore, and cursing. 

What really made me love this story, however, was the ending. Half of writing a story is honing in on the message you want it to carry, and when it comes to a story being remembered it's all up to that last line. Read at your own risk.

"Somewhere Only We Know" by PatchworkPoltergeist. So this one doesn't quite count as a classic...yet. It's definitely getting there and it sure deserves it. This is a sad story but not in the overt way that "My Little Dashie" is, it's a more covert, makes you think about life kind of sadness. It's hard to explain. Read it. 

And then there's the classic you don't wanna read.

"Cupcakes" Just don't read it. It will ruin your life.
